Puppies found dead in Hanley
The council is asking anyone with information to come forward
Stoke-on-Trent City Council says puppies have been found dead in Hanley.
The four newborn puppies were found yesterday morning (Tuesday 3 March 2026).
The council said: "We are deeply saddened and shocked that four newborn puppies were found dead yesterday morning (Tuesday 3 March) on the perimeter of Hanley Park, just off Ridgeway Road.
"This is an extremely distressing discovery for our team. Our immediate concern is for the welfare of the mother dog. If this is a welfare issue, we want to ensure that appropriate action is taken as a matter of urgency.
"Abandoning animals is completely unacceptable. If anyone has any information about how these puppies came to be left there, or knows of a dog who may have recently given birth and is now without her litter, please come forward.
"It is every pet owner's duty under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to ensure their animals are cared for and their welfare needs are met, including vet treatment."
