Five arrested after protests outside religious group HQ, Webb House, in Crewe

Police have confirmed that five people have been arrested following protests outside Webb House, the HQ of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, in Crewe.

500 officers raided three properties following serious allegations alleged to have involved members of the religious group on 29 April.

The properties raided included Webb House, which houses 150 members of the religious community.

The five arrested include:

  • A 22-year-old man from Crewe arrested on 5 May on suspicion of throwing a firework. He ended up being released without charge
  • A 60-year-old man from Crewe arrested on 9 May for using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour that were likely to stir up racial hatred. He's been released on conditional bail
  • A 26-year-old man from Sefton arrested on 9 May for using threatening behaviour with intent to stir up racial or religious hatred. He's since been released on conditional bail
  • A 44-year-old man from Crewe arrested on 9 May for failing to comply with a dispersal order. He's been released on conditional bail
  • A 57-year-old woman from Crewe arrested on 9 May on suspicion of attempted arson. She's also been released on conditional bail
