Officers are investigating several reports of anti-social and dangerous riding of e-bikes in Sandbach.

Over recent weeks, there have been several reports of Surron e-bikes being ridden dangerously in the town and surrounding areas, endangering both the riders of the bikes themselves and other road users. The riders wear face coverings, in an effort to hide their identity.

Police Constable Michelle Sharp from the Sandbach Beat Team, said: “The behaviour of these riders is not only illegal, it’s dangerous and could cause a serious accident. One witness said they saw them riding across the incredibly busy junction of Old Mill Road and High Street while the lights were on red, which was ridiculously dangerous and idiotic behaviour.

“To help us stop this, I’d urge anyone who sees these bikes being ridden in an anti-social and dangerous manner around Sandbach to contact police and provide as much detail as possible. If you have dash cam footage, please share this with us so that we can find those responsible. The same goes for anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage.

“I’d also urge anyone who has any information on those riding these bikes dangerously to contact us.

“The more information we have, the more we can do to deter this dangerous behaviour.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website, or call 101.
