Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The incident happened at around 8.30am on Monday (3 November) as the boy was walking along St George’s Avenue North, Wolstanton.

A man on a bike allegedly threatened him with a knife before stealing his mobile phone.

Police confirmed the child was not injured.

The suspect is described as around 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, and riding a black and green BMX-style bike.

Officers are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area at the time to get in touch.

Local MP Adam Jogee (Newcastle-under-Lyme) has since written to the local Police and Crime Commissioner to seek clarity on the incident.

He says he wants to make sure measures are being taken to reassure the community.
