A man has been jailed after sending explicit photos of himself to a child and trying to meet her in Stafford.

28-year-old Paul Donaldson was arrested at Stafford train station in November last year, after he thought he was meeting a teenage girl.

He had been talking to an online account of a girl he was told was 13.

Despite him knowing this, he insisted on meeting her at the station and going to a hotel after.

He previously pleaded guilty to:

  • arranging the commission of a child sexual offence
  • attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
  • and sending a photograph of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation.

He's been jailed for two-years-and-six-months, put on the Sex Offenders Register for life and given a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
