Officers in Longton have seized an off-road motorbike in their ongoing efforts to curb anti-social behaviour in the area.

This action is part of Operation Transom, a collaborative effort between Staffordshire Police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council's Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) team aimed at fostering safer community environments.

Operation Transom specifically addresses riders who damage green spaces and endanger public safety.

During a joint patrol, an ASB officer and PCSOs observed an off-road motorbike being illegally ridden on Anchor Road before it entered an alleyway off Short Bambury Street.

The bike was discreetly followed until it stopped, at which point officers approached the rider.

The 21-year-old rider cooperated, providing his details and admitting to riding without a licence, insurance, or MOT.

Response officers attended the scene, seized the motorbike, and reported the rider for driving offences.

Councillor Duncan Walker stressed the importance of the collaboration between the ASB team and police in combatting anti-social behaviour.

Walker highlighted the significance of listening to community feedback and taking action to preserve the city's green spaces.

Along with enforcement efforts, education programmes are underway, informing riders and parents about the legal prohibitions against riding off-road bikes in public spaces.

Residents can report nuisance bikes to Operation Transom by emailing [email protected] or calling 01782 233400.

Incidents observed in real-time should be reported to Staffordshire Police through their live chat at www.staffordshire.police.uk or by calling 101.
