A teenager from Northwich has been jailed after admitting to stabbing another boy during a violent altercation.

Benjamin Porter, 19, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Monday 27 October, where he was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison.

Porter had previously pleaded guilty to attempted wounding with intent, possession of a knife, and child abduction.

The court heard that police were called at around 5.30pm on Saturday 7 December 2024 following reports that a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed in the stomach on Woodpecker Drive, Northwich.

Officers quickly identified Porter as the suspect, and he was arrested later that day.

While on bail for the stabbing, Porter was also arrested for breaching a Child Abduction Warning Notice in relation to an unrelated incident.

"this level of violence has shocked the community"

Following sentencing, Detective Constable Connor McGregor said: “Porter’s actions were totally unacceptable, and the sentence handed to him is reflective of his actions that day.

“Teenagers inflicting serious injuries with dangerous weapons is not something we’re used to hearing about in Northwich, and this level of violence has shocked the community.

“Thankfully, while the injury was serious, it was not life-threatening and the victim has made a good recovery.

“I hope the conclusion of this case will reassure the local community, as well as anyone who may have witnessed this traumatic event unfold.”
