Prestigious library and museum reopens in Leek after major refurb

The Nicholson Institute in Leek is set to welcome visitors once again, unveiling its modernised museum and library on 21st September.
The renovation promises to deliver modernised and spacious environments, including enhanced study areas, expanded book collections, and a creative children's section.
This project, spearheaded by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, is part of a broader effort to revitalise Leek town centre, supported with government funding.
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst expressed his anticipation, stating, “The revamped Nicholson Institute offers a harmonious blend of contemporary design and respect for the building’s heritage. We are excited to welcome back visitors and provide new cultural opportunities.”
Hayley Coles from Staffordshire County Council shared her satisfaction with the library's improvements, highlighting the refreshed, vibrant atmosphere that caters to community needs.
The art gallery, which features the restored Robert Timmis mural, is scheduled to reopen in October, adding another layer to the institute's offerings.
