Three men charged after attempted ATM theft at Poynton Waitrose

Police say Waitrose on Park Lane was broken into during the incident.

Three men have been charged following an attempted ATM theft at a supermarket in Poynton.

Police were called at around 9.10pm on Sunday 7 September 2025 following reports of a burglary at Waitrose on Park Lane.

Officers attended and found the store had been broken into.

Cheshire Police said there had been an unsuccessful attempt to steal the cash machine inside the supermarket.

Three men from Greater Manchester were later arrested in connection with the incident.

Following an investigation, Adam Brown, 42, Jordan Wheeldon, 37, and Zak Williams, 26, have all been charged with one count of burglary other than a dwelling with intent to steal.

Brown, of Lincoln Road, Middleton; Wheeldon, of East Lancashire Road; and Williams, of St Bernard’s Avenue, Salford, are due to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12 June.
