A Manchester man has been sentenced to over three years in prison for his involvement in a county lines drug operation in Crewe.

Mustafa Ahmed, aged 25, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, 21st October, where he was given a custodial sentence of three years and four months.

Ahmed, who resides on Freetown Close, Manchester, had earlier pleaded guilty to several charges, including being concerned in the offer to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of criminal property.

The investigation into Ahmed's activities began when officers identified a county lines gang operating in the Crewe area, actively supplying drugs.

Telecoms analysis linked a mobile phone number used by the gang to advertise the sale of drugs, sending 'flare' messages to potential buyers across the local area.

On Thursday, 18th June, plain-clothed officers on patrol in Crewe spotted a drug deal taking place between Ahmed and a known drug user.

Ahmed was arrested, and officers conducted a search of his vehicle parked nearby, uncovering several wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, cash, and a silver necklace.

A mobile phone used by Ahmed in the distribution and supply of drugs was also seized.

Detective Constable Ben Harrington stated that Ahmed targeted Crewe, believing it would be an easy location to operate, but officers were already monitoring his activities.

“We remain committed to tackling county lines drug dealing and protecting our communities from the harm it causes," Harrington said.

People who suspect drug activities in their communities are encouraged to report it to the police by calling 101 or visiting www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us .
