Man who raided a tanning shop in Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed
35-year-old Joshua Guy has been jailed for 6 years
A 35-year-old man has been jailed for six years after admitting burglary, aggravated burglary and two charges of assaulting an emergency worker.
Joshua Guy was jailed at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last Wednesday (17th September)
Guy had broken into the shop on Brocksford Street in Fenton in June when nearby residents raised the alarm.
Officers attended the area and carried out a search locally, when Guy was located, holding a carrier bag containing tanning lotion and cash.
When officers approached him, Guy lashed out and pushed the officers before punching one of them.
Staffordshire Police officers were not seriously hurt and remained on duty.
Further reports were received of a man matching Guy’s description being inside a property with a knife. Officers then detained him inside the address.
Guy was later charged and pleaded guilty to the offences in court.
Following his sentencing, the officer in the case, Detective Constable Lorraine Butler said: “Guy was a violent offender who was determined to garner all that he could from the premises when he broke in that night.
“I am pleased he has admitted his offending and that the judge saw fit to hand him a lengthy custodial sentence.”
