Police in Staffordshire have confirmed a man has been sentenced after officers found approximately £63,000-worth of drugs at a property in Stoke-on-Trent.

Paul Arthur Johnson, 38, from Chell, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to four years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (30 May).

It's after he pleaded guilty to producing a controlled drug of class B – cannabis at an earlier hearing.

Officers were called to a property in Chell on Monday 27 June 2022 after the landlord attended the home and found a large cannabis grow inside.

The property was searched and a quantity of cannabis worth around £63,000 was seized.

In a statement, police said: "we're working with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to target cannabis grows in council properties, privately rented home and empty commercial buildings to combat the negative impact the drug has on local people."
