Man jailed for assaulting ex-girlfriend in Stoke-on-Trent

Lovatt admits multiple attacks on his former partner

A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to a series of assaults on his ex-girlfriend in Stoke-on-Trent.

Callum Lovatt, a 24-year-old from Coventry, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating and three offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a previous court hearing.

The assaults took place on three separate occasions between December 2024 and August last year, culminating in a violent attack where Lovatt headbutted his victim, causing concussion.

Lovatt received his sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, 21st April.

PC Lauren Taylor from the Stoke South Local Policing Team highlighted the importance of addressing violence against women and girls, stating, “Tackling violence against women and girls is very important to us and we work hard to change behaviours and bring offending to light."

She commended the victim for her courage throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

Taylor encouraged anyone experiencing domestic abuse to reach out for support, noting that offences can be reported by calling 101 or using Live Chat on the police website.
