Man jailed for assault in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre
The victim was taken to hospital with injuries
Police in Staffordshire have confirmed a man who assaulted another man and caused him serious injuries has been jailed.
Daniel Gibson, 36, from Middlewich, was sentenced to six years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday (10 July).
It's after he pleaded guilty to section 18 – grievous bodily harm with intent - at an earlier hearing.
Gibson was seen on CCTV talking to another man on High Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, just after midnight on 26 February 2025.
He then punched, kicked and stamped on the victim who was left unconscious on the floor.
Officers attended the scene and Gibson was arrested.
The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening and he has since been discharged.
DC Rose Smith, from our CID North department, said: “I hope this conviction shows that violence has no place on our streets, we will take action against those who commit violent offences.
“We are committed to keeping people safe across Staffordshire.”
