Shaun Mitchell has been sent to prison for more than three years
A man has been jailed for more than three years, after he admitted child sex offences.
Shaun Mitchell, 29, from Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to three years and four months behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Friday 17 April).
He admitted six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl and two counts of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity at an earlier hearing.
In 2024, the victim bravely came forward and reported Mitchell to us.
Mitchell was arrested and answered ‘no comment’ to all questions asked in custody but later admitted the offences in court.
Detective Constable Jacob Thackstone, from the public protection unit, led the investigation. He said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the victim in coming forward and telling us what had happened to her.
“I hope this sentencing shows that all reports of sexual offences, whether they are recent or historical, are taken seriously and we will take robust action against those responsible.”
