Man charged with attempted murder after Poundland incident

A man has been charged with attempted murder and other offences, after a woman was assaulted in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Luke Mamczur, 24, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been charged with attempted murder, committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place.

It comes after police responded to a report of an assault at Poundland, on the High Street, at around 5.35pm on Friday (10 July)

The victim, a woman, was taken to hospital, but was discharged.

Mamczur is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Monday 13 July).
