Man charged after reported serious assault at Hanley property

A man has been charged after a reported serious assault at a property in Hanley.

James McCan, 39, of Stoke-on-Trent, is due in court today (14 May) charged with section 18 wounding with intent.

This follows a reported assault at a property on Wellington Street on 10 May.

Emergency services say they were called out to Bucknall New Road in Hanley following concerns for the welfare of a man.

Officers found a man in his 30s on Hillcrest Street with a serious head injury.

The man taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers say they later received reports that the assault had happened at a property on Wellington Street.

Two people previously arrested in connection with the incident, a 53 and 52 year old man, remain on police bail.
