Man arrested following a series of stabbings in Stoke-on-Trent

Two men were stabbed inside their own homes in Bentilee and Longton over the weekend

A man's been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following a series of violent incidents in Stoke on Trent.

Police were called out following a report a man had been stabbed inside a home on Wellfield Road, Bentilee, at about 9.40pm on Friday (28th March). His injuries are not thought to be serious.

Detectives also say at a similar time they were told a blue car had been stolen stolen after being followed by two men on an off-road motorcycle.

The driver, a woman, came into collision with a motorbike during the incident. The passenger of the car, a man, was stabbed.

Their injuries were not thought to be serious and both have since been discharged from hospital.

Then, at about 1am the next day (Saturday 29th March), Police received another report that two men had forced their way inside a property, near Heathcote Street, Longton. A man inside was stabbed and a mobile phone was stolen.

His injuries were not serious.

The suspects left the scene on an off-road motorcycle.

Around 20 minutes later, armed officers went to Dean Place, Joiners Square, after reports a firearm was discharged.

Police searched the area and found a blank firing weapon and blank firing ammunition. An off-road motorbike was also found abandoned.

No-one was reported injured.

Temporary Chief Inspector Nathan Hough, from CID, said: “I want to reassure residents that detectives are working hard to investigate these incidents, which are linked, and progress enquiries at pace.

“Behaviour like this has no place in our communities and we will continue to do everything possible to investigate the circumstances and take action against those responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone with any information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
