Man arrested after injured pensioner taken to hospital during Tamworth match

Police seek witnesses after a serious assault at The Lamb Ground

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following an assault during a football match between Tamworth and Carlisle United.

The incident occurred at around 5pm on Saturday afternoon, 14th March, inside The Lamb Ground on Kettlebrook Road.

A 47-year-old man from Tamworth has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after allegedly pushing a man in his 70s, causing him to fall and hit his head.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police have confirmed that the arrested man has been bailed with conditions as investigations continue.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event to get in touch by calling 101 or using the Live Chat on the Staffordshire police website, quoting incident 504 of 17th February.
