A man has been airlifted to a major trauma centre following a car accident in Staffordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to reports of a collision on Buxton Road, Upper Hulme, Leek, at 3.37pm yesterday. Three ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a Midlands Air Ambulance attended the scene.

The vehicle had left the road and landed in a field, with three men inside.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Ambulance crews arrived to find a car which had left the road and was in a field.

"The three occupants, all men, were assessed. One man, a passenger, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and received trauma care by the team of ambulance staff before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care."

The driver and another passenger suffered less serious injuries and were treated at the scene before being taken by land ambulance to the same hospital for further checks.
