Crews battle large fire in Winsford with smoke precautions advised

Residents asked to keep windows and doors shut due to significant smoke

Firefighters have been responding to a substantial fire on Road One in Winsford overnight.

Residents in the vicinity are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke from the blaze.

The fire involves a considerable quantity of plastic and a storage container located in a yard, with crews using breathing apparatus, hose reels, and main jets to manage the situation.

As of 16:00, firefighters are tackling the fire with updated equipment.

At 17:05, progress was reported with two main jets and a hose reel jet in use to combat the fire, which spans approximately 20m by 30m in size.

By 18:00, the presence at the site was scaled down to four fire engines, with efforts focused on dampening down the affected area.

At 19:15, the removal of affected materials by two onsite forklift trucks enabled further dampening down efforts, with three fire engines remaining onsite.

As of 20:10, it was confirmed that firefighters would stay overnight and a final update will be provided later this morning.
