A man from Stoke-on-Trent who physically and emotionally abused his partner has been jailed for a year and a half.

28-year-old Keiron Yates slapped, spat at and sent threatening messages his girlfriend throughout their relationship.

He also damaged her phone and drove her car dangerously to scare her.

Yates admitted two counts of engaging in controlling / coercive behaviour.

PC Ben Germanek said: “Yates was prolific in his abuse of the survivor, who has shown immense courage in coming forward and seeking support.

“We’re determined to do everything possible to safeguard victims of domestic abuse and to act robustly against offenders in Staffordshire.”
