A man who raped a 17-year-old girl in a Stoke-on-Trent country park has pleaded guilty to four sexual offences and kidnap.

Jason William Heaton, 53, of Hulme, Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested earlier this month after the victim told officers what happened.

The court heard how on 2 July at around 7pm, Heaton raped the girl who was walking in Berryhill Fields, off Dividy Road, between Bentilee and Berryhill.

Heaton pleaded guilty on 27 July to:

  • two counts of rape of a woman
  • attempted rape
  • cause a female 13 or over to engage in sexual activity
  • and kidnap

He has been remanded into custody ahead of his sentencing on 30 September.

Detective Constable Samantha Gales said: “This was a particularly abhorrent attack on the survivor, who has shown immense bravery in coming forward and supporting our investigation.”
