Newcastle-under-Lyme man jailed for raping and controlling woman
James Goulding has been sentenced to 13 years in prison
A man from Newcastle-under-Lyme has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after raping a woman and controlling her.
35-year-old James Goulding was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the next 20 years, put on the Sex Offenders Register and served with a restraining order against the survivor.
Goulding denied the charges against him throughout his trial but was found guilty on two counts: the rape of a woman and engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour.
Detective Constable Helena Cresswell said: “Goulding inflicted a campaign of abuse on the survivor and has been rightfully brought to justice for his heinous crimes.
“I hope this shows survivors of sexual offences that we are taking action every single day in Staffordshire against those responsible.”
Anyone affected by abuse can contact police on 101 or make a report on their website.
