Man arrested after man found dead in flat in Stoke-on-Trent
A 56-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of murder
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Stoke-on-Trent.
Emergency services were called to Hanley on Wednesday evening (12th November) after reports of a man being unresponsive inside a flat on Linfield Road.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A cordon has been put in place near the flat, and police are continuing to question the suspect.
Officers are urging people not to speculate over his identity.
A Staffordshire police spokesperson said, "We were called to a flat on Linfield Road, Hanley, at about 9.30pm last night (Wednesday 12 November) following a report made to colleagues by West Midlands Ambulance Service to say a man was unresponsive inside the address.
"Paramedics attended and found a man unresponsive inside. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We’re working hard to track down the man’s family so that specialist officers can support them at this difficult time.
"For this reason, we’d urge people not to speculate over the man’s identity so we can properly support his family at these initial stages.
"A cordon has been put in place at the flat and officers are carrying out a number of enquiries to find out more about the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including a forensic examination of the area and house to house enquiries.
"A 56-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He will be questioned in custody as our investigation continues.
"We’re keen to speak to anyone with any information that can help us with our enquiries."
