Firefighters battle large deliberate wildfire in Lichfield
Crews prevent spread to surrounding areas in Fradley
Firefighters have successfully tackled a significant wildfire near The Moor in Fradley, Lichfield, after being alerted at 1:55pm on Saturday, 26th July.
Seven fire appliances, a water carrier, and a ranger attended the scene, finding a blaze covering approximately 500 metres by 600 metres.
Using main jets, crews managed to extinguish the fire without any reported injuries.
Community Support and Caution
Station Manager Russ Brown praised those who assisted: “Crews worked tirelessly to tackle this fire and stop it spreading to nearby farms, houses, and kennels."
Brown expressed gratitude to local residents and farmers who aided with water supply and fire break creation.
Investigators have determined the fire was set deliberately. Brown urged caution: “Parents please talk to your children about the dangers of setting fires and help us keep Staffordshire safe this summer.”
