A man who was arrested following a stabbing in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, has now been detained under the Mental Health Act after being assessed by medical professionals.

Staffordshire police were called to Victoria Road at around 9.15am on Saturday (16 August) to reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. He has since been discharged.

A second man, in his 20s and from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He was also taken to hospital with injuries and has now been detained under the Mental Health Act."

Detective Inspector Meredith, from our criminal investigation department, said: “I can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“We’re continuing to support the victim in this case, who is now recovering from his injuries.

“The investigation is ongoing.”
