Family issues statement after inquest into Darren Green's death in Stoke-on-Trent
Coroner unable to determine cause of death for man found at Festival Park
An inquest has been held regarding the death of Darren Green, whose body was discovered at Festival Park in Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent on 2nd March of last year.
Darren’s family issued a statement expressing their gratitude and emphasising the need for action on the homeless crisis in Stoke-on-Trent.
"Darren's life was not always easy and there were many challenges he faced throughout life including homelessness," the statement reads.
The family urged the government and local councillors to do more to address housing issues.
The coroner found that the evidence could not determine how Darren died, a conclusion the family agreed with.
They expressed appreciation to individuals and authorities involved in the investigation, including Staffordshire Police, forensic teams, and scientific experts whose efforts identified Darren soon after his discovery.
The statement concludes with a tribute to Darren's spirit, recalling him as wild, warm, and true, and asking for privacy as his family grieves.
