Driver jailed after 140mph car chase in Stafford
Lewis Moore was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison
A man whose car hit speeds of 140mph on the M6 in Stafford has been jailed.
Lewis Moore, from Neston, was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison after admitting dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
The 34-year-old appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday (24 January) where he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop when required by a constable, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
He was also disqualified from driving for 14 months.
It comes after Moore, behind the wheel of a blue Ford Fiesta ST, refused to stop for officers near junction 14 on the northbound carriageway, on Monday 30 December.
He proceeded to reach speeds of 140mph and used the hard shoulder to undertake vehicles in his way.
The Fiesta eventually came to a stop near junction 16 when it ran out of fuel.
RCT officer, PC Kara Pilarczyk, said: “We are extremely grateful to the public who saw what was happening and gave officers plenty of space to work safely and detain the driver.”
