Police in Stoke-on-Trent are urging parents to discuss the 'door-kicking challenge' with their children after incidents of the social media trend were reported in the city.

The challenge involves young people kicking front doors late at night and filming the act to share online, prompting police intervention at locations in Longton, such as Havergal Walk and Plant Street.

Inspector Rebecca Price, from the Stoke-on-Trent South Local Policing Team, emphasized the seriousness of such actions, defining them as anti-social behavior, which remains illegal regardless of whether physical damage occurs.

Price explained that the loud noise caused by door-kicking can be mistaken for an attempted break-in, causing fear, especially among vulnerable residents.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the potential consequences and legal implications of participating in these trends.

Inspector Price said: “What may seem like a prank can cause real harm and fear, especially for vulnerable adults and families. Anti-social behavior will not be tolerated and we are working to identify those responsible.”

Authorities stress that anyone experiencing anti-social behavior should report the incidents by calling 101 or using the Live Chat feature on the police website. Reports can also be made anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
