Staffordshire officer dismissed for unwanted messages and touching

A Staffordshire Police officer has been dismissed without notice after sending inappropriate messages to a colleague and touching a colleague while off duty.
PC David Maggs, who was based in the south of the county, has also been put on the College of Policing’s Barred List, meaning he'll never be able to work in policing or any other law enforcement bodies again.
A four-day misconduct hearing heard how Maggs sent unwanted, inappropriate messages to a colleague and whilst off duty, he touched a colleague in an unwanted and inappropriate manner.
It concluded Maggs' actions amounted to gross misconduct as he "breached the standards of authority, respect and courtesy and discreditable conduct".
Deputy Chief Constable Caroline Marsh said: "His actions were wholly unacceptable and represented a serious breach of the trust placed in him as a police officer."
She continued: "I would like to thank the colleagues involved for their courage in reporting this matter."
