Thomas Beswick from Crewe has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Beswick appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on 6th October, where he pleaded guilty to the violation.

Initially, a ten-year SHPO was imposed on Beswick as part of his sentencing for a previous offence in 2022. The order specifically prohibited him from staying at any residence where a child under 16 was present without approval from Social Services.

On 4th October, police received a report from a woman alleging that Beswick had violated the terms of his SHPO by attending her home, where her young child was present.

The woman, who befriended him in 2025 before the birth of her child, disclosed that Beswick had failed to inform her about his restrictions and that she learned of them indirectly, prompting her to contact police immediately.

Beswick was swiftly arrested and taken into custody, where he provided no comment during police questioning.

PC Clark of Crewe's Sex Offender Management Unit stressed the importance of SHPOs in protecting the public and commended the quick action by officers in apprehending Beswick.

Clark stated, “Beswick’s decision to visit her at her home whilst knowing her young child would also be present, put both the mother and child at risk."

The prompt police intervention ensured Beswick was brought before the court, resulting in an immediate custodial sentence.
