Two men have been arrested after a man died in a crash in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Officers went to High Street, Wolstanton, just before 2.10am yesterday (Sunday 15 June) following reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a white Skoda Octavia.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.

Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency services and members of the public who went to his aid, 40-year-old Steven Field, from Stoke-on-Trent, died at the scene.

Steven’s family is being supported by specialist officers at this time.

A 27-year-old man, from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, and a 26-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, or those with any information that could help collision investigators.
