A 52-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision with a van on a busy road in Winsford.

The crash occurred at around 3.55pm on Thursday (1 May), on Swanlow Lane and involved a grey Citroen Berlingo and a black Harley Davidson motorbike.

Emergency services, including paramedics from North West Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene, but the man — who was from Hartford — was pronounced dead at the roadside.

The driver of the van, a 41-year-old man from Sandbach, was not injured.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage as they investigate the circumstances of the incident.

“This is a tragic incident and we’re doing all we can to understand what happened,” said Sergeant Andrew Dennison from Cheshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

“We believe the road would have been fairly busy at the time, and we’re keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision or may have captured it on video.”
