A man has been jailed for drug offences, after a large of amount of cocaine and cash were found in a house, in East Staffordshire, earlier this year.

Hamza Fahad, aged 26, of Burton-on-Trent, was jailed for two-and-a-half years on Friday (1 August) at Stafford Crown Court after admitting being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of criminal property and possession of cannabis.

Fahad was first arrested in April this year after running from patrolling officers at around 1pm on 23 April on Shobnall Street in Burton-on-Trent. He was found in possession of two phones and cash.

A later search of an associated property revealed a total of cocaine, crack and cannabis worth in the region of £8,500, along with £32,125 in cash. Drug paraphernalia, including scales and a lock knife were also found.

Fahad was then arrested and pled guilty to the offences in court.

He was ordered to forfeit the drugs, cash and items as well as pay a surcharge of £228.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector, Ian Fitzgerald, of the force’s major and organised crime department, said: “Fahad was brazen in his attempt to evade officers and I am pleased that we were able to recover a substantial amount of class A and B drugs.

“We will continue to do all we can to tackle the distribution of illegal drugs in our communities and put those responsible behind bars.”
