Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a significant livestock theft in Cannock, where approximately 90 sheep were stolen from a field on Hickling Way.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between Monday, 16 September, and Tuesday, 24 September.

The animals taken were continental ewes, each marked with distinctive blue markings on their backs to help identify them.

It is thought that those responsible may have used a vehicle to transport the livestock, given the number of animals stolen.

Officers from Staffordshire Police’s Rural and Wildlife Crime team are investigating the incident and are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area during that time — particularly the movement of livestock or unfamiliar vehicles — to come forward.

Police are also encouraging local residents, farmers, and those in the agricultural trade to remain vigilant and to report any attempts to sell livestock in unusual circumstances.
