Man jailed after using 3D printer to manufacture firearms
Igor Ciesielski was sentenced to two years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to manufacturing a weapon
A man has been jailed after he used a 3D printer to make firearms and ammunition at his home address in Stoke-on-Trent.
Igor Ciesielski, 21, from Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to two years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 1 October) after he pleaded guilty to manufacturing a weapon and possessing component parts of ammunition with intent to manufacture, at an earlier hearing.
On Sunday 11 May, officers executed a warrant at a home in Bentilee following intelligence that Ciesielski had purchased items from an international firearms retailer.
Officers seized a 3D printer along with a printed firearm and around 30 printed components of a firearm.
Detective Constable Andrew Percy, from CID North, said: “The warrant conducted back in May resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition that could have caused serious harm to communities across Stoke-on-Trent.
“I am glad Ciesielski has received a custodial sentence for his offending.”
