Man dies in lorry collision on A5 near Cannock
Road closed following collision earlier today
A man has died following a collision involving a lorry on the A5 near Cannock earlier today.
The incident occurred on Watling Street at around 11am on Wednesday 31st December.
Emergency services, including police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene.
The pedestrian, a man, was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after their arrival.
His family has been informed and is being supported by specially-trained officers.
The driver of the lorry was unhurt in the collision.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency teams worked at the scene but is expected to reopen shortly.
Police are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage of the area to come forward.
