The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has revealed the new kits that will be worn by the squad at this year's Rugby World Cup in France.

The home shirt remains red, as is tradition, with white trims and a retro polo collar, whilst the new away shirt features the black and yellow shades found on the flag of St. David.

Taking design inspiration from the Welsh language, words and meaning behind the anthem, the new kit offers a twist on a traditional theme.

The jerseys feature phrases found in the Welsh National Anthem, like ‘PLEIDIOL WYF I’M GWLAD’. It translates to ‘I am faithful to my country’.

A launch event for the new strips took place this morning in Pontypridd, at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park.

Ynysangharad Park is home to the Evan James and James James statue, composers of the iconic Welsh National Anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.

Local school children were invited to take part in the launch; they sang the anthem as Wales’ stars arrived at the park's pavilion in the new kits.
