Wales have welcomed back Ben Davies and Connor Roberts to their squad for summer friendlies, following lengthy injury absences.

Both players missed the World Cup play-off semi-final defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina in March.

Skipper Davies, who broke his ankle playing for Tottenham in January, will be making his return earlier than many expected.

Full-back Roberts has not played this season due to Achilles and hamstring injuries, compounded by later dead leg complications.

Ahead of the friendlies against Ghana and Romania, manager Craig Bellamy expressed the importance of having both players back in the squad.

"The example Ben shows in training but also off the pitch, how he leads, is so important for us," Bellamy said.

"But just having him in the squad is so big. My messaging becomes so much easier because he’s the one taking it onto the pitch."

Roberts was an unused substitute for Burnley’s final Premier League match and last played competitively for Wales against Belgium close to 12 months ago.

Bellamy added: "But having Connor back because I’ve worked with him previously (at Burnley) and he knows how we work, he’s definitely a big help.”

Wales’s 26-member squad sees six changes from their previous line-up against Bosnia.

Centre-back Chris Mepham, midfielder Kai Andrews, and strikers Isaak Davies and Kieffer Moore are making their return.

Jordan James, Liam Cullen, and Mark Harris miss out due to end-of-season knocks, along with Adam Davies, Rubin Colwill, and Rabbi Matondo.

The Welsh side will be hosting World Cup-bound Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium on 2nd June before facing Romania in Bucharest on 6th June.
