Two teenagers have been convicted of the murder of Kamran Aman in Barry, following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court.

Kamran, a father of one, was fatally attacked in Barry Road just before midnight on 30th June. According to South Wales Police, he was delivering shopping to his elderly mother when the unprovoked assault occurred.

Two males, aged 16 and 17 and from Llantwit Major, were arrested shortly after the attack. Initially, they pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder. The court has now rejected their claims and found them guilty of murder.

‘Kamran’s life celebrated and remembered by loved ones’

Kamran's wife Khaleela paid tribute to her late husband, describing him as loyal, loving, and compassionate. She emphasised his dedication to his family and his kind-hearted nature, remarking that his absence has left a void in the lives of those closest to him.

Kamran’s mother Shenaz also shared her grief, recalling the tragic night her son had been visiting her when the attack occurred. She described Kamran as a source of peace and joy, recounting his devotion to his family.

A family statement referred to Kamran’s murder as a senseless and racially motivated attack and emphasised the enduring pain his loss has caused.

‘Police acknowledge community effort’

Detective Inspector Kath Barry of South Wales Police issued a statement recognising Kamran’s role in his community as well as acknowledging the efforts of Barry Road witnesses who attempted to save Kamran’s life on the night of the attack.

She thanked the local community, including Barry's Muslim community, for their patience during the legal proceedings. “Nothing will fill the void in the lives of those who loved Kamran,” DI Barry said.

Sentencing for the convicted teenagers will take place on 20th February 2026.
