Two men who travelled from Bristol to Cardiff with a shotgun, and shot a teenager through a letterbox, have been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court.

Efekan Karahan, 18, and Ashley Corbin, 21, went to the address in Pontprennau, Cardiff, with a loaded double-barrelled shotgun, which Karahan put through the letterbox and fired twice.

A teenager in the property was hit in the legs by the shotgun pellets, causing injuries, but he was not the person they were looking for. Karahan ran off, along with Corbin who had been waiting a short distance away.

Both Karahan and Corbin were arrested on 16 June 2025 in a stolen vehicle in Bristol.

Leighton Mawer of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “The two defendants pre-planned their offending, including the use of a firearm, resulting in a person being seriously injured.

“When firearms are discharged, the consequences can often be fatal, but fortunately that was not the outcome in this instance.

“The strong evidence presented by the Crown Prosecution Service resulted in guilty pleas, and the offenders being brought to justice.”

Both defendants were sentenced on 13 February 2026, where Efekan Karahan was sentenced to 9 years and 10 months and Ashley Corbin was sentenced to 9 years.
