Two further arrests in Rhydyfelin murder investigation

Police investigating the death of 23 year old Liam Woolford in a village on the outskirts of Pontypridd have arrested two more men on suspicion of murder.

The pair - aged 23 and 24 - had been injured in the disturbance in Rhydyfelin on Tuesday morning.

Two other men remain in police custody.

South Wales Police have provided an update this afternoon: "Two men, a 30-year-old man from Rhydyfelin arrested on suspicion of murder and attempt murder, and a 22-year-old man from Tonteg arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in custody.

"Two men who were previously in hospital, a 23-year-old from Rhydyfelin and a 24-year-old from Porth, are now also in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"A 20-year-old woman from Penygraig who was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent has been bailed for further enquiries.

"Police were called to Poets Close in Rhydyfelin just before 12.40am on Tuesday morning (September 23) following reports of a disturbance.

"We want to express our gratitude to the local community of Rhydyfelin for their support during this investigation."
