Tributes to cyclist following death in head-on collision in Grangetown
A 19 year old man arrested following the incident is currently released under investigation
South Wales Police have confirmed that a cyclist who was hospitalised following a serious collision in Grangetown has now died.
The 72-year-old, retired social worker was involved in a head-on collision on Dunleavy Drive, on May 17 but sadly died in hospital on Friday.
He has been named as Brad Craven and his family have paid tribute to him:
“Brad Craven was from Roath and he passed away on Friday, 20 June, five weeks after a catastrophic road traffic collision.
“He was a confident and experienced cyclist and was with his brother on their usual morning cycle when he suffered fatal injuries and did not regain consciousness following a head-on collision.
“Brad, a retired social worker at Llandough Hospital, will be remembered by all, as a very thoughtful and caring man who always put the welfare of others before his own.”
Police say the investigation is now being treated as a fatal road traffic collision.
Officers are continuing their appeal for witnesses to the incident which occurred at approximately 8.40am on Saturday, May 17.
The vehicle involved was a blue Fiat 500 which was travelling in the opposite direction.
