Tributes have been paid to a 48-year-old woman who died in hospital following a crash on the A4119 bypass in Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Donna Ball, a mother-of-four, was involved in the collision, which occurred just before 11:25am on Monday, between a van and a car at Williamstown.

She passed away the following day at the University Hospital of Wales.

The van driver, a 19-year-old from Newport, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is also suspected of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to others involved in the crash.

The teenager has been released on bail pending further enquiries until 30th March 2026.

Family pays tribute

Donna’s husband has expressed the family’s heartbreak over her death.

“We, as a family, are devastated by the sudden, tragic, and needless death of our beloved Donna,” he said.

He also thanked emergency and hospital staff for their care and support, adding: “Donna's passing has left a huge void that can never be filled.

“Our old lives have ended; our lives without her begin now. We are overwhelmed by the messages of love and condolence we have received.

“We take great solace in the high regard in which she was held by so many. Rest easy, my love, until I see you again.”

Family Liaison Officers are continuing to support her family through this period.

Investigation is ongoing

South Wales Police are continuing their investigation into the crash, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
