Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a huge fire that was deliberately set on Drumau Mountain, Neath Port Talbot.

A 15-year-old boy from Neath Abbey is suspected of attempted arson with intent to endanger life, while a 17-year-old boy from Skewen faces charges of arson and criminal damage.

Both boys are currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.

The fire has significantly impacted the Skewen area, with residents experiencing a night of thick smoke and illuminated skies due to the wildfire.

Emergency services have been tirelessly working since Monday evening to control the blaze and secure homes near the affected area.

Reports suggest that a local nursing home may have evacuated residents as a precautionary measure during the unfolding situation.

Rhondda MP Sir Chris Bryant voiced anger and frustration at ongoing wildfire threats in the area, emphasising that firefighters and residents deserve a reprieve from these relentless incidents.
