Swansea man jailed for recording sexual act without consent
David Novac admitted voyeurism offences
A Swansea man has been jailed for five months after pleading guilty to voyeurism.
David Novac, who is 34 years old, admitted to recording himself performing a sexual act with a woman who did not consent to being recorded.
The offence took place in May, and Novac changed his plea to guilty on 7th October.
He is required to register with the police for seven years, according to the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Detective Constable Claire Davies from South Wales Police said:
“This is a case which has highlighted the importance of consent. It is never okay to engage in any kind of sexual act where both parties involved have not given their consent towards it.
“Incidents of voyeurism can leave the victim feel exploited and have a lasting detrimental effect to their mental wellbeing.
“We hope that the victim in this case is able to mentally overcome this incident and move on with her life following this sentence being handed out.”
Authorities hope the case reassures survivors that their voices will be heard and that they will receive support throughout the judicial process.
Information and support services are available for those who have been affected by sexual abuse but are not yet ready to report to police.
