Detectives investigating an assault on Pentyrch Street in Cathays last month are appealing for the occupants of a car to come forward.

Police believe the occupants, thought to be a man and a woman travelling in a car possibly a Ford Fiesta, stopped to offer help to the victim, Colm Marcus Boston, on the evening of 22nd December.

Mr Boston, 37, from Heath, died four days later at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Witnesses reported seeing at least two people in the vehicle as the driver stopped and offered assistance before leaving the scene.

Police are urging the car’s occupants to contact them, as they may hold important information.

A man, aged 29, from Splott, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of assault and possessing an offensive weapon. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Three other men who were previously arrested as part of the investigation remain on police bail. Mr Boston’s family is being supported by family liaison officers.
