Historic ordnance found in Burry Port garden prompts road closure

A historic unexploded ordnance was discovered in a garden in Ashburnham Road, Burry Port, leading to a response from local police.
Dyfed-Powys Police received the report of the items at around 1:20pm on 27th July.
Officers collected the items at 6:42pm, transporting them to the police station on Old Castle Road in Llanelli.
Old Castle Road was subsequently closed at 9:21pm while police awaited the arrival of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to ensure the items' safety.
The road remained closed until the EOD team deemed the ordnance safe and removed it by 11:43pm.
The full police statement reads:
Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of an old shotgun pellet located at a property garden in Ashburnham Road, Burry Port at around 1:20pm on Monday, July 27.
The pellet was uncovered from the garden and what appeared to be a small historic unexploded ordnance left at the property.
Officers attended the location to collect the items at 6:42pm and were then taken to Old Castle Road Police Station, Llanelli.
Old Castle Road was closed at 9:21pm, awaiting the arrival of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The road remained closed until the items were deemed safe and taken away by EOD and reopened at. 11:43pm.
