A motorcyclist has died following a collision involving a car in Newport.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Firbank Avenue at around 3.50pm on Thursday afternoon.

Police say they are looking to speak to the driver of a red transporter van seen travelling behind both vehicles who may have information to aid in the investigation.

The collision involved a Mini Cooper car and a motorcycle.

The rider, a 29-year-old man from Newport, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gwent Police say his family have been notified, and specialist officers continue to support them.

Officers are asking for anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact them.
